Aquaplus has released a new PV, and announced the release date for upcoming title Utawarerumono Zan as 27th September 2018.

Originally released as a novel game with strategy elements for the PC in 2002, Utawarerumono was later ported to the PS2 and PSP, and was also adapted as an anime and OVA. An HD remake was released for the PS4 on April 26 2018. Its sequel, released in two parts on the Vita and PS4 as Itsuwari no Kamen (which also got an anime series) and Futari no Hakuoro in 2015 and 2016, respectively. The series takes place in a world roughly equivalent to 15-16th century Japan in technology and culture, with strong Ainu influences, that is constantly threatened by war.

All previous games in the series have had turn-based strategy combat, and Zan will be the first to be an action game. Though no further details are as of yet available, the new video shows Dynasty Warriors-style combat and cinematic special moves. The video also reveals that the game is being developed in collaboration with Tamsoft, which has also worked on the Senran Kagura and Hyperdimension Neptunia series.

Pre-orders open today (18 May 2018). Regular and limited editions are available, and the limited edition includes a soundtrack, an artbook, and an “acrylic character plate”.
