Kogado Studio has announced an update for its turn-based strategy game, One-inch Tactics, to be released today, 13th December 2024, adding 10 new missions. This brings the total number of missions in the game to 30.
One-inch Tactics was originally released on May 20, 2024. The game marks a return to Kogado Studio’s roots in tactical simulation, a genre in which the developer established a reputation during the early years of Japanese PC gaming.
Specific details of the new missions were not disclosed, but players can expect more of the game’s signature board game-like combat.
One-inch Tactics features hex-based battlefields where players command a squadron with limited units. Positioning, terrain, and line of sight play a central role in combat strategy, and is designed to simplify the tactical simulation genre without sacrificing strategic depth. The player leads a squadron in a campaign to reclaim a fortress on a contested island, with each mission testing the player’s ability to predict enemy movements and effectively use the environment to their advantage. Early missions are kept simple to teach players the core systems, while later missions become significantly more challenging.
The game has two modes: Campaign Mode, where players progress through linked missions, and Single Mission Mode, where players can freely select individual missions once the campaign is cleared. Equipment and unit customization options are limited to keep the experience accessible, but the need for strategy remains high, with players expected to adapt to different terrain and mission types.
One-inch Tactics is currently available at a 20% discount as part of the KOMODO Holiday Sale. The sale runs until 3:00 AM on December 20, 2024.
